Synopsis

How many times have you seen the same fraud affect one organization multiple times?  What can we do better to prevent fraud from occurring in the first place? In this morning webinar, Ilya Umanskiy, GRCP, RAMCAP and Bjorn Wahlstrom, PCI will explore fraud and our ability to prevent it as an outcome of process design and organizational culture building. Their presentation is inspired by Dan Heath’s recent book, "Upstream". In it, the author explores the reasons why organizations suffer from serious problems – not once but multiple times.  He concludes that our ability to solve problems before they happen, thus preventing serious damage to organizations, should and can be improved.

Ilya Umanskiy & Bjorn Wahlstrom

Mr. Umanskiy is a partner and Director with Current Consulting. He is a risk and resilience professional with a strong track record in asset protection, investigations, and crisis management. Ilya has advised multiple private and government organizations on implementing controls for the protection of people, information, reputation, and environments. Some of his experience includes risk advisory work for the government of Malaysia, investigation of a deadly explosion for the government of the Philippines, design and implementation of fraud management controls for an international insurance firm, and multiple fraud investigations.

Mr. Wahlstrom is a seasoned risk management expert with over 15 years’ of experience in China. Björn is a Partner and Managing Director of Current Consulting in Hong Kong. He is a board-certified investigator and has personally led investigations in China, Europe, and the Americas. Björn is a certified external SAI auditor, with extensive on-the-ground experience in supply chain management in China. He is active in the field of FinTech and cross-border payment systems, conducting due diligence and helping clients prevent and investigate fraud.
