Outline

The Seminar will discuss the investigation powers of the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission and various types of enforcement proceedings that can be commenced by the SFC. The speaker will give some practical tips on how to handle the investigations and enforcement proceedings, including cases with cross-border elements. The speaker will also talk about the role of forensic investigation firms in achieving favourable outcomes for clients.

Presenters

Jimmy Chan
Partner of Jingtian & Gongcheng LLP

Jimmy spent 14 years with the Securities Futures Commission (2003-2017) and served as a Director of the Enforcement Division. He has twice been awarded the Outstanding Individual Award by the SFC for his efforts on the Lehman Minibond resolution and securities and futures appellate work respectively.

He obtained law degrees from the University of Hong Kong, University College London (Chevening Scholar), Harvard Law School (Harvard University HKJC Scholar) and Peking University. He is qualified as a lawyer in HKSAR, Greater Bay Area PRC, England and Wales (non-practising) and New York.
