Outline

The authenticity of a document is often a critical issue in a forensic investigation. Forensic examiners apply proven scientific methods to test the genuineness of a feature in a document, such as a signature or an authorisation stamp.

In this seminar, the speaker will introduce the disciplines of “Forensic Document Examination” & “Forensic Handwriting analysis” using case studies and examples. Instruments commonly used in forensic document examination such as:

  1. the digital microscope – for the examination of line quality;
  2. the ElectroStatic Detection Apparatus (ESDA) – for the detection of indented marks, and
  3. the Spectral Luminescence Magnifier – for the comparison of optical properties of inks, will be presented and demonstrated.
